The Road to Prusa Pro AFS
Prusa Research operates an in-house 3D printing farm with 600 machines running 24/7 to produce plastic parts for new 3D printers. For a long time, we wanted to make our farm unassisted - autonomous. Our goal is a facility for streamlined, efficient, cost-effective, and easy-to-maintain production.
The fully functional prototype was first displayed at EXPO 2020 Dubai as a preview of things to come. We aim to bring the Prusa Pro AFS to the market in 2022/23, so businesses around the world can switch to next-gen manufacturing.
The advantages
of 3D printing
3D printers are popular and widely used technology capable of turning digital files into real-world objects using materials such as plastic, resins, metals or other resources. Prusa Research develops and manufactures mainly FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication) 3D printers and the new machines used in the AFS are based on the same principles.
